Hurricane Felix Wood Salvage Project
Soon after Felix, Maderas Sostenibles began to investigate the feasibility of harvesting the fallen hardwood and reforesting in the hurricane zone. MSSA representatives met with landowners, community leaders, and government officials. In January 2008 MSSA began operations in the Greiton area of RAAN. The Company has built a camp and nursery, begun to harvest fallen hardwood, and has constructed a sawmill processing plant. MSSA has secured government harvest permissions with approved reforestation plans. The Company is working in partnership with local landowners and reforesting the hurricane zone.
